LYONS FARMERS’ MARKET RULES
1.
The purpose of this
market is to provide an opportunity for local farmers and craft
people to share their products with the community.
2. Vendors who
participated in last year’s market may request their same spot
for this year.
3. Vendors
should be in place by 7:00am. If vendor is not there by 7:15, the
spot may be forfeited
for that day.
4.
General public sales will start at 7:30 am.
5.
Goods offered for sale are expected to be of highest
quality. If, in the opinion of the Market
Manager and the Lyons
Chamber of Commerce, a vendor offers inferior quality items, he/she
may be asked to leave.
6.
At least 75% of produce sold at this market must be grown by
vendor. All items available for
sale must be grown and produced in New York state. Products
not home-grown must be properly labeled as such. Growers will be
subject to farm inspection.
7.
All crafts and homemade foods offered for sale must have been
produced by the vendor. No flea market items will be
allowed except on special event days.
8. If a vendor
fails to comply with rules 6 or 7, he/she will be asked to
remove inappropriate products. If a second violation
occurs, the vendor must remove the items in question and
will receive a written warning from the Chamber of Commerce.
If a third violation occurs or the vendor refuses to remove
the products when asked to do so, the vendor will be
required to meet with a Grievance Committee, which may
result in forfeiture of market privileges.
9. Vendors are
expected to leave their space in a clean condition, free of refuse.
10.
Vendors should inform the Market Manager if they will not be
at the next Market day. If a vendor is absent without
notification for two weeks, the spot may be given to someone else.
11.
Vendors are expected to adhere to all state tax collection
laws and are solely responsible for
any tax collection. Vendors selling nursery and greenhouse
crops must display a valid New York State Nursery license.
12.
Any questions or suggestions should be directed to the
Market Manager. He/she will pass
these issues on to the Board of Directors of the Lyons
Chamber of Commerce for their review.
13.
Vendors who are not enrolled in the NYS WIC program cannot
accept WIC coupons for their
produce. Information on the WIC program can be obtained from
the Market Manager.
14.
Any vendor who does not comply with these rules or those of
the WIC program may be asked
to leave the market.
Your cooperation in helping to maintain our market’s success is
appreciated.
